Drake Fall Ball Update

The Drake lacrosse team has posted the results of the Cornfield Classic Fall Tournament. Unfortunately I missed these games due to work, which is a real shame since the Bulldogs did fairly well.

Drake Vs Cornell 14-2
Creighton Vs Cornell 20-0
Drake Vs Creighton 5-7

Not only did they dominate Cornell College, but they narrowly lost to Creighton. When you consider that Drake is not only a first year team, but that they will play in a league considered to be lower than MCLA D2, the results are quite admirable. While neither school is a powerhouse in the GRLC, both have significantly more history in the sport than the Bulldogs.

Drake will host Cornell College again on Friday, October 29. The game will be at Drake Stadium.
Drake will also compete in the 2010 Central Iowa Lacrosse Association Box Lacrosse League.

Valley Orange vs White 2010

Tomorrow night officially brings Valley's 2010 Fall Lacrosse season to a close with the annual Orange vs White game at Valley Stadium.

This year's event brings a few changes from years past. First and foremost, there will be a girls lacrosse game before the boys play. Although the programs share goals and game fields, this will be the first time that the teams have played in the same venue on the same day. By combining both games, both teams have an opportunity to raise their profiles.

Admission to both games is free. This is a great opportunity to bring your friends and family to watch live lacrosse in Des Moines!

Girls Game - 6:00 PM
Boys Game - 8:00 PM

Unfortunately game participation is limited to team members and coaches.

Hockey Night In Iowa 2010 Edition - Game 10

Unfortunately the losing streak continues for the Irwins Bike & Sports hockey team. Last week we went down to a resurgent YDD Tattoo team by a score of 7-3. A glimmer of hope shown when I set up a goal and tallied an assist with under five minuts remaining. When I put one in the top shelf seconds later, we felt that a comeback was in progress. Unfortunately, my two points would be the final for the men in yellow on the night.
Tonight Irwins faces Funky Pickle. In the first meeting, Irwins skated away with a 7-1 victory. With both teams struggling since then, this is literally anybody's game. Strong goal tending will take a back seat as the defensive units on both sides will have little trouble handling their opponents' offense. I predict a two goal win by Irwins.
I will not be at tonight's game due to a pressing personal matter. But I do wish my teammates luck.
